RONDA NORTE - THE PAMULINAWEN ILOCANDIA RIDE 2017
I been
solo biking/riding ever since and looking for a group of people who love long
distance cycling and I’ve seen their facebook page a post “Pamulinawen
Festival-The Ilocandia Ride.....”. From Tuguegarao City to Laoag, Ilocos Norte
approximately 300kms, at first I was hesitant to join but for the experience I
did joined. This is my first ride with more than 5person joining in a long
distance cycling. The ride master sir Eric is very accommodating.
We rode
out from Tuguegarao at exactly 2:30am on February 18, 2017 with 25+ cyclist joining the peloton
along the way joined the peloton from Alcala leaded by Master Edison. We
Stopped over at Magapit to be joined by other cyclist/biker.

At
Junction Luna, The group is now approximately 70+ cyclist from Tuguegarao,
Alcala, Gattaran, Aparri. Lallo, Allacapan and I’m the only one coming from Isabela
Province.
Team
Tsamba of Sanchez Mira accommodated us with free refreshments. Joined the peloton
from Sanchez Mira and Claveria but they will only ride with us until boundary
of Ilocos Norte and Cagayan.
PANAGSASABAT - The
EAST MEETS WEST completing the classic and legendary --- SOLID NORTH... the
group of bikers from Laoag is waiting us at this Famous Arc(the boundary of
ilocos Norte and Cagayan. And I was amazed by them and their bike. Their bike
is a modified bmx the so called “tsunano”. Imagined that they climb that Category 2 Ilocandia Gate Climb with just a single
sprocket. Amazing it is!!!
They call this "Tsunano"
And now pedaling
more passing through "The Patapat Viaduct" is elevated 31 meters over sea level. It is a concrete coastal bridge
1.3 km long and connects the Maharlika Highway from Laoag, Ilocos Norte to the
Cagayan Valley Region. An epic opportunity to pedal the most scenic and most
photographed destination in Ilocos Norte - The Patapat ViaDuct.
We continued
pedaling and arrived at Bangui, here you can find the famous Bangui windmills near Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and Asia's largest windfarm, making Bangui the capital of green energy in the Philippines.
From Bangui to Laoag
City still 60kms until our destination we encountered a sea breeze/sidewind
along the way because the road here is very near the coastline.
We arrived at our
destination Java Hotel at around 6pm on that day.
